“Before a child speaks, it sings. Before they write, they paint. As soon as they stand, they dance. Art is the basis of human expression.”- Phylicia Rashad
Shannon was born and raised in Visalia and earned her bachelor's degree in Music Education from California State University, Fresno. Throughout her musical career, she has performed at venues and events across California and the nation, including Disneyland, Orlando, New Orleans, the California Band Directors Association Conference, and the National Flute Convention in Las Vegas.
Although she enjoys performing, Shannon's greatest passion is teaching. She loves helping students discover the joy of music while developing confidence, creativity, and a lifelong appreciation for the arts. She values the supportive, collaborative community at The Academies and enjoys sharing her enthusiasm for music with students each day.
Outside of the classroom, Shannon enjoys spending time with her husband, Steve, their daughters, Makenna and Evelyn, and their sweet dog, Buckley.
